This position starts at $52,000 year and compensation is based on experience. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN HR GENERALIST AT JBZ The HR Generalist is responsible for recruiting to find the best culture fits for our passionate, conservation minded teams. Building and growing relationships from the new hires to the established team members. This person will also build relationships with hiring managers to ensure a smooth and timely recruiting process. The HR Generalist will have the opportunity to recruit seasonal staff all the way to leadership positions. This will consists of posting internal and external advertisements, sourcing job posts, schedule and perform phone screens, background checks, schedules interviews, and conducts orientations.
The HR Generalist will also help cultivate our culture through employee engagement initiatives. Strategic duties including benefits administration, performance, training, and development, reporting, and retention.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A HR Generalist AT JBZ
  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field  and 1-3 years’ experience in an HR role or equivalent experience with 3-5 years’ in an HR role.
  • PHR or SHRM CP certification is preferred.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and other computer software applications; experience with HRIS systems.
  • Basic understanding of Applicant Tracking and Payroll Systems applications.
  • Ability to interact positively and objectively with co-workers, Zoo and park patrons, volunteers, contractors and members of the general public from a wide range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and with widely divergent levels of educational attainment and social skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of employment law and Human Resource Management principles and practices.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data, reason logically and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with numbers.
  • Ability to occasionally work Saturday’s and nights.
