As the Hispanic community has been more negatively impacted during the COVID-19 Pandemic and has been unemployed at a higher rate than the white community in West Michigan, we began offering assistance with these services. We are able to support our clients through the entire process, including the initial claim, follow-ups, protests, and more.

Our primary long-term objective in our Workforce Development Department is financial sustainability and prosperity, and that is defined individually.   ​

To achieve this, our Career Development Specialists works one on one with our clients to provide career development support which includes resume building, job search assistance, interview practice, and help getting connected with the right trainings and certifications. ​

GED 

When asking why you should finish your high school diploma, the answer might simply be that it can be difficult to find a job. For others, they may have completed their high school diploma and higher, but the credits do not transfer.

The GED credential is a valid substitute for a high school diploma, and 98 percent of colleges and universities in the United States accept it in applications, in addition to all branches of the U.S. military and most employers.

At the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan, we offer GED classes IN SPANISH ONLY and our classes are designed for each student to go at their own pace.
