 Job Description Location: Grand Rapids Status: Part-Time, Temporary Department: GRTV Salary: $17/hr Start date: July 8, 2024 Position Summary: This internship opportunity at the Grand Rapids Community Media Center is an excellent stepping stone for someone interested in pursuing a career in video production. As a Video Production Intern, you’ll be involved in the entire video production process, from concept development to post-production editing. This comprehensive exposure will give you a detailed understanding of the video production lifecycle. Your role will require collaborative efforts, working closely with both the team and clients. You’ll be part of brainstorming sessions, planning, and executing shoots, where your creativity and input will be crucial. The position offers a hands-on learning experience with industry-standard tools and software, under the guidance of experienced professionals. This is an ideal environment to refine your technical skills and acquire new ones. Additionally, the work you do during this internship will contribute significantly to your professional portfolio, a crucial asset for a career in video production. You’ll also gain invaluable insights into the industry, understanding the practical aspects of the field beyond theoretical knowledge. Ideal Candidate: The perfect candidate for this role is someone who aspires to delve into the field of client production work. While you may already have some experience in production and editing, this role is ideal if you haven’t had extensive direct experience working with clients. We’re looking for an enthusiastic intern, eager to learn, and ready to contribute creatively to a dynamic team. Key responsibilities:
  • Assist with all stages of the video production process, including concept development, planning, shooting, and editing.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop creative ideas and bring them to life.
  • Manage and organize equipment, set up lighting and sound, and coordinate with talent or interviewees.
  • Use industry-standard software, including Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Audition, to edit and produce high-quality video content.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to project discussions.
Requirements:
  • A passion for video production and a desire to learn and grow in the industry.
  • Basic knowledge of video production equipment and techniques.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Audition
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Capacity to load, unload, and set up production equipment independently.
  • Must be available for the duration of the 150-hour internship program.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
