Our basic needs specialists help individuals break down barriers that keep them from having access to community resources and basic needs such as health, food, transportation, and shelter.  They guide families by navigating processes and systems to find and acquire the support needed to become self-sufficient, independent, and become an active member of the community.

Program

Comprando Rico y Sano

Under the Comprando Rico y Sano program, the Hispanic Center promotoras de salud (community health workers) conduct charlas (small educational sessions), grocery store tours, and cooking demonstrations to promote health-conscious shopping, smart food choices, and cost-saving strategies.

We also help eligible individuals enroll in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
